iPhone Apps – more
Since I’ve been on the subject of iPhone Apps, I thought I would throw a few more out there along with some examples.
Here is the image I started with:
Let’s start with Best Camera. This one actually layers its effects, and you can go back and delete layers. Also, it will ask if you want to apply the same effects when loading the next image. Nice touch. Clumbsy interface. Not real intuitive.
Next is my favorite of all the imaging Apps: Cool fx by Tiffen
This next App really is kind of lame in my opinion. It is Abstrat Lite. Does random effects on your image.
Next we have Mill Colour. This basically adjust colors in various ways like hue & saturation, gamma, etc.
Next up is Photo Oven. Not one of my favorites. It does color overlays, texture overlays and vignetting.
Next we have Photoshop. It does a good job, but the interface sucks. I don’t know how else to say it. Tiffen really has the interface thing mastered on the iPhone. Adobe missed the boat.
Next one is kind of misleading. They call it HDRforFree. It isn’t HDR at all. It is just a filter that boosts certain color values.
This App is one I like when e-mailing photos. It is called Polarizer. Now, it is not a “polarizer” as in a filter, but an App that makes your picture look like an SX-70 print.
Now, this next one is one of the coolest Apps out there. It is called TiltShift and might as well be the LensBaby App for iPhone. It is selective focus for your image. Everything is adjustable. It is only $1.99.
(Note how the house is in focus, and the rest blury.)
And, finally, Photo fx – another Tiffen App. (above)
So, there’s what’s on my iPhone. Frankly, here is my list of “keepers”, and in order of importance and functionality for my iPhone:
1. Genius – a must have for shooting with the iPhone
2. Photo fx – a must have editor
3. TiltShift – for those selective focus moments
4. Cool fx – a must have for some texture overlays
5. Camera XL
Now, I did not mention camera XL. This is a pixel doubler. If I am in a well-lit situation, and I can steady myself for taking a shot, I’ll use XL just to get more pixels. I did not include Polarizer on my top 5 list because it really isn’t something I use that much.
My top 5 list will get you some cool shots with your iPhone. You probably won’t need anything beyond those 5 Apps, and you can probably do fine with just the top 4, or 3 if you don’t care about textures.
Coming soon…
